Diana Williams, known to students as “Ms. D,” is Bettendorf High School’s newest security guard. Joining the current guard, Mr. G, Williams is one of the 17 new faculty members. Previous to coming to Bettendorf, Williams served as the former security guard at Sudlow Intermediate in Davenport.
The best parts about switching to Bettendorf have been working closer to her home and “being with much more mature students,” Williams said.
She first discovered she wanted to become a security guard when looking for a career that she knew would help people. After serving two deployments and over seven years of service, Williams left the military because of an injury.
Williams credits her military service for her ability to stay calm in high stress situations while at Bettendorf.
“I always remind myself that I’m only dealing with kids,” Williams said.
