Written and assembled by students, the April Issue of the Bett Growl paper will be released on Friday, April 26.
Maya Baker, a senior taking up publications for her first semester, is heading up the newspaper as the editor. In addition to her tedious editing and organization, Baker has also written two articles and a letter from the editor which will appear in the newspaper.
Eleven students worked on writing articles, with many interesting selections of stories featured. The Snarl, the opinion piece featured in the paper, is about the use of cell phones and how it affects teens. There are also articles on spring sports, and other activities that students are involved in, such as an article about the pit for the spring musical, as well as an article about Esports.
In addition, there are a few articles geared to the end of the school year and seniors. There is a senior reflection, a guide to overcoming senioritis and spring fever and a guide to surviving grad parties. All the articles were written in a four day week, which was a challenge for the writers and the editors.
“I stayed up until 3 a.m. editing all of the articles, which was a difficult task, but everyone pulled through with their articles to make something that we’re really proud of,” said Baker. “The more people who read it, the more empowered the newspaper becomes.”
