Displaying leadership and excellence in any project he takes on, Mitch Winterlin proves to be an exemplary student who has a passion for helping others and changing the world.

Winterlin is extremely involved, participating in Student Council, NHS, Science Club, French Club, FBLA, Memory Club, Scholastic Bowl and Beautify BHS. He holds leadership positions in many of his activities, the most prominent being the president-elect in Student Council.

In addition to his school involvement, Winterlin is also president-elect for the State Student Council, which he considers one of his greatest extracurricular achievements.

“You go against so many super kind and personable people that all deserve it. Being able to get that position is significant to me because there are so many great people,” Winterlin said.

His success in earning these positions is evidence of his great leadership ability.

“He always has a clear vision which he can really step up and share,” sophomore class vice president Sammy Foht said.

In the classroom, Winterlin challenges himself with a difficult work load. This quarter he is taking Honors Pre-Calculus, AP American Government, Honors Physics, and Honors Anatomy and Physiology.

While excelling in the classroom and in his extracurriculars, Winterlin works to create lasting friendships with his peers.

“Mitch is one of the most inclusive students I have ever been around. He is very good at spanning all of the groups of the high schools,” teacher Katie Hansen said. “He does a great job of befriending anyone.”

Passionate about helping others, Winterlin is looking forward to meeting new people and expanding his horizons. Winterlin leaves not only a lasting impact on the school, but also he is driven to change the world for the better.

“Helping the world is what drives him, whether that’s planning an event for people to have fun at or raising thousands of pounds for the student hunger drive. I think he really wants to have a positive impact on the world,” school vice president Katie Lent said.
