The boys track team won the MAC Conference meet on May 3, ending Pleasant Valley’s 11-year streak. Bettendorf led with 152 points, followed by Pleasant Valley with 135.5 and Davenport West with 117.5. According to Twitter, the boys won the 4x400, 400 relay, 200, 400 hurdles, 400, 800 relay, 100, and the sprint medley relay.
“Going into MAC we saw as a team we had an opportunity to win, but there were a couple lineups we had to solidify before districts. While winning was awesome, I wouldn’t say it was the season goal. Our minds are now set on districts and state,” Jack Stamper said.
Additionally, the girls track team was runner up in the MAC to Pleasant Valley. Junior Erin McQuillen, who broke a school record earlier in the season, won the long jump, placed second in the 200 dash, and third in 400 dash. The team was also led by Trinity Borland, winning the 3000 and placing second in 1500.
Sophomore Breanna Vermeer was another standout in the meet anchoring the first place 3200 distance relay team and winning the 800.
The District meet for both teams will take place on Thursday, May 10, at North Scott High School at 4 p.m. The State meet will take place on Thursday, May 17, at Drake University.
