On Thursday, April 12, junior Erin McQuillen competed in the track and field long jump competition at the Brady Street Jessie Day Race. Previously having a best distance score of 17 ft. and 6 inches, Erin McQuillen broke not only her previous scores but also the Bettendorf High School record.
The previous school record was 18 ft. and 1 ½ inches; McQuillen jumped 10 ½ inches more.
Although Erin McQuillen has competed in the long jump competition all three years, she focuses on running, but her intense jump has qualified her for the Drake Relays on April 25-28.
At the Drake Relays, McQuillen will compete with other top athletes from all across the state.
