While temps will start out in the 50s on Thursday morning, they will quickly fall around 11 a.m.
Temps will drop below 30° by 1 p.m. allowing for rain to switch over to freezing rain.
The Iowa Department of Transportation said via Twitter that "depending on the timing of this storm and low air/pavement temperatures, removing ice from the roadway may take a couple of days."
These hazardous conditions will create some major delays during the evening rush hour commute.
