The Bettendorf High School girls basketball team is set to tip off against Linn-Mar to begin its 2017-18 season.
Their first game is on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m in the Bettendorf High School gym.
Brian Tritt, the head coach of the varsity team, is ready to play Linn-Mar. He thinks they are a strong team, and it will be a good game.
“Linn-Mar will be tough. They have good seniors like us, so it will be a good challenge. We are very excited to take on the challenge,” he said.
Seven seniors are returning this year, and are anxious to start their last season as Bulldogs.
Eleanor Drexler, senior, had some devastating injuries last season. She had a concussion and tore her ACL. She is looking forward to her last season.
“My goal is to make this one of the best seasons yet and make it through healthy,” she said.
Drexler has been working hard trying to stay healthy. She has been in physical therapy and has been working constantly in the weight room.
Laurel Braaten, another returning senior, is very excited for the upcoming season, and can’t wait to get started.
“I’m excited to work with another group of girls and make more memories while playing the sport I love,” she said.
The Bettendorf Bulldogs will have to face some tough teams as this upcoming season goes on.
“Our rival, PV, is always going to be a tough team. They have a very good program. North Scott and Linn-Mar will also be a challenge, along with Illinois teams we will play at the Illinois-Iowa shoot out,” Tritt said.
Last year the Bulldogs ended with a record of 16-7. Tritt’s main concern is being the best version they can be and improving as the season goes on.
