Spooky Spider Halloween Cookies


  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 cup butter, softened

  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar

  • 1 egg


  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 3 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/3 cup butter, softened

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

  • 1-2 tablespoons milk


  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees

  • Stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder in bowl (set aside)

  • Cream together the butter and sugar until it's smooth

  • Beat in the egg and vanilla

  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients

  • Roll dough into golf ball sized balls and place on cookie sheets

  • Bake for 8-10


  • Mix together powdered sugar and butter

  • Stir in vanilla and milk

  • If frosting is too thick add more milk, if it is too thin add more powdered sugar

  • Divide the frosting into two bowls, add black food coloring to one

  • Pipe the frosting in circles alternating black and white starting from the outside until you get to the center of the cookie

  • Use a knife/toothpick to create spider web effect by dragging the toothpick from the center out

  • (Optional) add candy corn or pipe spiders for decoration
