Bettendorf Police need public's help identifying Hy-Vee bank robber
The Bettendorf Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a bank robber at the Devils Glen Hy-Vee that prompted the lockdown of three Plesant Valley schools.
The following is a Bettendorf Police Department media release:
******MEDIA RELEASE****** SUBJECT: Bank Robbery at Great Southern Bank On August 23, at approximately 2:34 p.m., Bettendorf police were dispatched to a bank robbery at Great Southern Bank, located inside HyVee, 2900 Devils Glen Road. A male suspect approached the counter and demanded money from the teller. The suspect did not display a weapon but inferred that he had one. The suspect obtained an undetermined amount of money and left on foot heading east. Riverdale Heights Elementary, Hopewell Elementary, and Pleasant Valley High School were on locked down for approximately 20 minutes. Thank There were no injuries. The description of the suspect: · white male · white goatee with facial hair · Mid 40’s-early 50’s · approximately 6ft tall · Clothing description: blue jeans, light blue t-shirt with stripes, tan ball cap, wire rim glasses, and light color do-rag covering his hair The Bettendorf Police Department is requesting anyone with information regarding this crime to call 911. The Great Southern Bank is offering up to $5,000 reward for the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect."
