Many throughout the Quad Cities and abroad are remembering the Bettendorf couple killed in a plane crash Friday.
Dominic "Dom" and Dr. Dianne Giammetta were killed in a plane crash in southern Kentucky as it made its way to Alabama.
Dr. Giammetta was an OB/GYN at Medical Arts Associates on John Deere Expressway near the Milan Beltway in Moline.
Randi Allen of Sanford, Florida says Giammetta became her doctor in 1993 when she still lived in the Quad Cities.
"We shared a birthday, January 9," Allen remembers.
Many on social media say that Dr. Giammetta had delivered one or all of their children, some even posting a photo of the doctor and a new-born.
"She was so smart and covered every base," Allen said.
Dianna graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
"She diagnosed my endometriosis and did everything she could to help me," Allen said.
Dominic was the owner of the well-known local wrecker company, Fred's Towing Service.
Dominic was the pilot of the plane that was flying from the Davenport Municipal Airport to Muscle Shoals, Alabama when it crashed in a heavily wooded area.
The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
