Student spotlight: Emma Vincent
Emma Vincent, senior, has been an active student throughout her four years at Bettendorf High School. She has been involved in band, marching band, the musical, and scholastic bowl all while maintaining good grades. Vincent also actively participates in youth group and symphony at the Bettendorf Presbyterian Church.
“I have been involved in scholastic bowl for the past two years. I love being involved in scholastic bowl because I have always like trivia, and I think the questions are set up in a fun but challenging way,” Vincent said.
Vincent is the team captain for the varsity scholastic bowl team, and she likes competing in trivia competitions throughout Iowa and Illinois.
One of Vincent’s favorite school activities is band. She has been playing the flute since fifth grade and has played in marching band and regular band at the high school since her freshman year.
“Last year, I was a section leader, and this year I was a drum major for marching band. I like the social aspect of band and getting to hang out with other members,” Vincent said.
Vincent has also enjoyed participating in the musical for the past two years. She has been a part of both the crew and the pit.
“I wanted to be a part of the musical because I like theater, and the music for the past two musicals was really fun to play,” Vincent said.
Vincent’s favorite part about the musical is meeting new people and making new friends.
Vincent is currently taking Commercial Art 2, and she plans on using her artistic ability in the future.
“Right now, I am going to visit St. Ambrose and am considering going there. I would like to major elementary art education,” Vincent said.
