FCCLA attends DeWitt district conference

On Tuesday, March 21, FCCLA, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, attended the DeWitt district conference meeting.

“We started the conference by doing a mixer to meet students from other schools and get to know them better.

Then we visited businesses in downtown DeWitt and learned how each business owner achieves success. Our last activity was to make tie blankets and bookmarks for children in need,” Faith Osborn said.

Osborn, sophomore, enjoyed listening to the guest speakers at the end of the conference.

“They gave very helpful tips about job interviews,” Osborn said.

Osborn would recommend other FCCLA members to attend the conference next year, because it was a chance to meet other FCCLA members and give back to the community.

Ashley Williams, senior, also recommends it because it of the opportunity to meet new people who are interested in the same things you are.

“My favorite activity was when we got to visit the different businesses in downtown DeWitt,” Williams said.

Williams helped make tie blankets and bookmarks for the Snuggle up and Read Campaign.

Kaylin Kuhn, senior, enjoyed going to the small businesses and looking in the stores. She also liked being able to speak with the owner of the shops.

“I would recommend this conference because it was a lot of fun, and I received a lot of good information,” Kuhn said.
