Officials are racing against the clock to make repairs to the Oroville Dam spillway before more rain reaches the area.
There is no word on when 188,000 NorCal evacuees can return to their home following the spillway emergency at the dam.
Mandatory evacuations were issued for resident of Butte, Yuba, and Sutter Counties.
Officials are working to lower Lake Oroville's water level by 50 feet to repair the damaged spillway.
The emergency spillway allows water to flow out of the lake when water levels are high.
Officials found that erosion had caused the spillway the become vulnerable to failing, in which case, water would flood communities downstream.
The dam itself does not have any structural issues.
