Fitness trackers and watches are becoming more popular every day. With so many to choose from, people confuse the capabilities of each watch and tracker. Even though multiple companies offer a lot of fitness products, a customer should choose the watch or tracker that best fits him.
Fitbit trackers and watches have been around for six years. The first device was released in 2009, and the company currently sells over five different styles. The older styles, such as the Fitbit Zip and the Fitbit One, are trackers that are clipped onto the waistband or pocket. Both of these devices are able to count steps, calories burned, and track distance while showing the time. The Fitbit One can also count floors climbed and track sleeping patterns. The newer devices, such as the Fitbit Charge 2, Fitbit Blaze and Fitbit Surge, have more features. Some of these features include PurePulse Heart Rate, call and text notifications, and SmartTrack. Fitbit products range from $59.95 to $249.95.
Apple Watches have also become popular in the last few years. With the release of Apple Watches in April 2015, the company offers two different series of watches, with five different models total. Some features of both series include a dual-core processor, connecting to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, monitoring heart rate, lasting up to 18 hours before needing a charge, and replying to texts and phone calls. The Series 2 watches have more capabilities, such as a built in GPS and GLONASS and a water resistant watch face up to 50 meters. Similar to Fitbit products, Apple Watches also count steps, calories burned and total active minutes. Apple Watches range from $269 to $1249.
Samsung offers lesser known watches, the Gear Fit and the Gear Fit2. First coming out in April 2014, Samsung watches have many of the same features as Fitbit and Apple products. The newer watch, the Gear Fit2, can play music, receive calls, texts and notifications, monitor sleep, and count steps, calories burned and floors climbed. In addition to these features, the Gear Fit2 has a built in GPS and color display. The Gear Fit2 costs $179.99 while the original Gear Fit costs $149.99.
Polar, another fitness company, sells over 10 different fitness watches. Some of the older watches, such as the Polar Loop and the Polar Loop 2, only have the basic features like counting calories, step, and tracking sleeping. Some of the newer watches, such as the Polar M200 and the Polar V800, are waterproof, have a GPS, and receive notifications from a smartphone. The products offered by Polar range from $69.95 to $499.95.
