All in all, the Bulldogs shot 44 percent in field goals, going 3/9 in three pointers as well. With a starting lineup of all seniors, the experience on the team is noted through strong varsity returners such as Lane, Kallenberger, and senior Justin Hutter.
On the other hand, on Saturday, Dec. 3, the Bulldogs traveled to Linn-Mar High School to take on the Lions. The matchup started off slow for Bettendorf, going down 11-2 after the first quarter. However, the Dogs picked up their scoring, putting 14 points in during the second quarter. The second half of the game was close, with both teams putting up double digit points in both quarters. In the end, the Bulldogs fell to Linn-Mar 56-54.
Sophomore DJ Carton stood out among Bettendorf, leading in points against Linn-Mar with 13, just in front of senior Dylan Clearman with 12. Clearman shaped up to be a sharpshooter against Linn-Mar with a trio of three pointers made.
Then last Friday, Dec. 9, the boys basketball team travelled again, but this time to Burlington to face off against the Greyhounds. The Bulldogs took down Burlington 60-25. Leading in points on Friday was Kallenberger with 15. Following behind Kallenberger are Carton and Clearman, both with 12 points.
Bettendorf is set to play against North Scott tonight, Dec. 13, the second ranked team in the state.
This headline matchup is to determine one of the early season leaders for the MAC, and Bettendorf is in shape to take the Lancers on. Freshman teams tip off from the Bettendorf gym at 4:15 and the sophomores take the court afterwards, followed by the varsity primetime matchup.
