Raking and Bonding
FCCLA, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, had their second annual Raking and Bonding event on Saturday, Nov. 5.
“Raking and Bonding started at Village Inn. It was nice because everyone could get to know who was in their group for raking. Then we went around raking for the older citizens in the community that might not be able to on their own,” Heidi O’Brien said.
O’Brien, senior, enjoyed meeting new members and giving back to the community.
“It was my first time leading a committee for FCCLA, so that was exciting. I also liked being able to get closer to the other members that attended,” O’Brien said.
Erica Jensen, sophomore, joined FCCLA this year and recommends others to do the same.
“It was a really good thing to do for the older people in our community, and it was also fun,” Jensen said.
Ashley Williams, senior, enjoyed Raking and Bonding especially because her team won the competition.
“We were really competitive. We filled the most bags faster than the other three teams,” Williams said.
Williams also enjoyed the event because of everyone's reaction when they came out to see their yard fully raked.
“It was a really fun event because we all got to know each other better, and you are also helping deserving people,” Williams said.
