Finals are an exhausting time when you are studying for the tests, taking them, or waiting for your final grade to be confirmed. However, there are ways to keep your cool during finals week.
Be sure to eat a healthy breakfast before your finals. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gives you energy and keeps you focused. If you wake up early, you can eat cereal, toast, or scrambled eggs. If you have less time before leaving in the morning, be sure to eat a piece of fruit, granola bar, or even a smoothie so you aren’t starving by the middle of your first exam. Also be sure to drink water to stay hydrated.
If you are having problems in a hard class, you have different options to get help. The first is asking your teacher. Many teachers are willing to help before school, after school, or during PRIDE time if you are struggling. They can give you extra problems or go through old worksheets to make sure you understand. Most teachers also give review packets, so you can ask your teacher to go through topics you struggled on.
Another option is asking a friend. It is likely that you have a friend in the same class or who has taken the class before who can help. You can ask the friend to review with you, ask you questions that could be on the test, or ask her to check your work.
Lastly, you can use YouTube or other credible websites for help. YouTube channels, such as Crash Course with John and Hank Green, summarize different topics in subjects such as biology, chemistry, psychology, and literature. These videos and other websites can refresh your memory on topics that you forgot about or don’t understand fully.
Finally, it is important to make sure that you get enough sleep. Although grades are important, if you don’t sleep the night before, you will most likely not do as well on the test. Study for a few hours, but when you’re done, put electronics away and get some sleep.
Finals can be stressful, but with enough preparation you will conquer them.
