Tasty pitas come to Quad Cities

In 2005, Canada was home to the first Pita Pit restaurant. Pita Pit has just opened a restaurant in the Quad Cities. It is conveniently located on the intersection of 53rd and 18th Streets in Bettendorf.

I ordered a Buffalo Chicken pita. The taste was delicious. It had a little spice and a lot of flavor. After ordering the type of pita, you proceed to a buffet style of sides to add to the pita. All the sides look fresh and appealing to the eye. They have suggestions of what goes on the type of pita that you ordered or you can make your own selections.

The service was not the best, forgetting about one of our pitas on the cutting board. After 15 minutes, we gently asked for the pita and they quickly served us. They do not inform you that some of the sides, like guacamole and hummus, are 50 cents extra. The poor service could be because they are a newer restaurant and many employees were still in training.

The cost varied from $6 to $10. They did not just have pitas. There is also a salad with all of the same ingredients or just pita bread and hummus. They also have a variety of pitas, varying from meat pitas, veggie pitas and breakfast pitas.

They can be slow getting the food ready at times, so do not go around 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. because that is the busiest times for them. If you go at a time that is not busy, you will likely be served in a more timely manner.

The taste and quality of the food outweighs the lack of service. The building is very clean and spacious. It was bright and a comfortable place, including indoor and outdoor seating. Pita Pit also has a great online website. It shows nutritional facts, menus, locations and you can order online. The website is organized very well. The only bad part is that it does not have the price of the food next to the item. Pita Pit is a good place to go to get a flavorful meal, with a nice atmosphere to relax and meet with family and friends.
