NJ, NY bomber involved in police shootout; MN mall attacker identified

NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY BOMBINGS

 

The Attack

 

28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami is wanted for questioning in connection to the bombings that exploded in New Jersey and New York City.

 

Early Saturday morning, a garbage can exploded near the starting line of a Marine Corps charity run in Seaside Park, New Jersey.

 

Another bomb injured 29 in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, after exploding at about 8:30 p.m Saturday night at 23rd Street and 6th Avenue.

 

A second device was found at the intersection of 27th Street and 6th Avenue later Saturday night.

 

Five more devices were found inside a backpack in a garbage can in New Jersey, Sunday night. One bomb detonated while officials were investigating the devices.

 

 

Suspect found sleeping outside business, survives shootout with police

 

The man believed to be responsible for the New Jersey and New York City bombings has been captured following a manhunt and shootout with police.

 

Rahami was identified by the owner of a bar who witnessed Rahami sleeping in the doorway of his business.

 

He called authorities in the town of Linden, New Jersey who took part in the shootout with Rahami. Two officers were shot, one in the vest and another in the hand.

 

Rahami was detained and transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery.



 

 

MINNESOTA MALL ATTACK

 

The man who stabbed nine in a Minnesota mall has been identified as 22-year-old Dahir A. Adan.

 

The stabber was a “soldier of the Islamic State,” according to an ISIS-linked media outlet.

 

An ISIS wing has claimed responsibility for the attack.


An off-duty police officer shot and killed Adan in the midst of the attack.
