As the Bulldogs tested their resiliency in their first local football game of the season, the team looked to come back from a heavy loss from West Des Moines Valley. The first time these two teams have met in the regular season was back in August and the Bulldogs took a 49-13 defeat to the Valley Tigers. With a surprising 0-1 start to the season, the Bulldogs were determined to take down the Assumption Knights last friday to flex their muscles in eastern Iowa. Right out of the gate the team came ready to win, with junior Mason Morris returning the opening kickoff for an early lead. From there the Bettendorf defense was efficient, giving up no points to Assumption the whole game. On the other hand the Bulldog offense, spearheaded by senior quarterback JMichael Young, was lethal in all fields from rushing to passing, with touchdown after touchdown. The final score was 55-0, with multiple players getting into the score sheet. The Bulldogs face off against Cedar Rapids Washington this Friday at home, and with the team coming off a great win, Bettendorf should be ready to go.
