I-74 bridge completion expected by 2021

A five-year plan has been created in order to build a new bridge on the I-74 corridor.

Iowa and Illinois’ government, as well as the federal government, have been coordinating and developing a plan to replace the now five lane bridge connecting Bettendorf, Iowa, and Moline, Illinois.

Bob Gallagher, mayor of Bettendorf and chairman of the Bi-state Regional Commission Transportation Policy Committee, said the now 86 year old bridge is “functionally obsolete.”

Costing upwards of $1.3 billion, the new bridge will have 10 lanes total, doubling the size of the current bridge.
