Girls soccer kicks off

The soccer team has started its season with practices every day in the mornings and after school. The team is also having bonding times so the team can become closer as well as time to catch up on any missing work they may have.

They have been also preparing by scrimmaging other teams. They have scrimmaged Assumption and Dubuque Hempstead.

Games begin in April.

Eleanor Drexler, sophomore, is a returning second year varsity forward. She is looking forward to a new year with plans to get a state title.

Senior Isabella Blackman is looking forward to beating Pleasant Valley, simply “because it’s PV.”

Mariah Kennedy, senior goalie, wants to get to state and perform well there. She predicted the team will fly under the radar. Even though they have lost some seniors, she said that the new freshman girls are good too.

To prepare, junior Alina Steffen said,”I came to every lifting to get back in shape and started running every other day.”

She is most excited about state and the team bonding experiences they will get.

Most of the girls’ goals are to get and to win state and to get first in the MAC conference this year.

Their first game was on Tuesday against Assumption.
