Drama dept. presents musical
The spring musical, “Crazy For You”, is happening THIS weekend. The remaining times to catch the show are tonight and tomorrow (Saturday) at 7, and Sunday at 2 p.m. It costs only $10 (no student activity passes accepted).
The charming musical tells the story of Broadway hopeful Bobby Child (Cole Harksen) and his struggle to do what he has always dreamed, rather than what his mother wants. On a trip to foreclose on a building in Deadrock, Nevada, for his mother, Bobby meets Polly Baker (Molly Seybert) and falls head over heels for her. When Polly discovers his true intent in coming to Deadrock, she shuns him. To win her over and save the small town’s theatre, Bobby disguises himself as the famous producer and choreographer Bela Zangler and brings in the Zangler Follies. Together they work to put on a great show, and bond as a town in the process. Trouble comes when the real Bela Zangler comes to town, which leads to hilarious confusion and one of the show’s most well-known number, “What Causes That”. To find out how Polly, Bobby, and Bela resolve this confusion, if Bobby chases his dreams, and if they are able to save the theatre, be sure to come see the production.
“The best part of playing Bobby is all the fun he has in the show! It has been a long and difficult process, but it is finally about to pay off,” Cole Harksen said, “You should come to the show because it’s a comedic thriller that has something for everyone, and we have worked so hard to share this fun story with you.”
Molly Seybert said, “Polly is such a fun character to portray, and doing so has really pushed me out of my comfort zone as a performer. There is so much energy in this show, and we can’t wait to share our hard work with an audience.” “Crazy For You” was written by Ken Ludwig, with music by George Girschwin. The production features 40 actors, 30 pit members, and several new and experienced crew members, who have all been working on the show since late January. With countless entertaining dance numbers, heart-warming ballads, and lively characters, “Crazy For You” is sure to be crazy fun.
