The music department takes trips over spring break every other year, and this year they returned to Orlando, where the last trip in 2014 went. One hundred ten students went on the trip, as well as 12 teachers and chaperones. It was a 22 hour bus ride, so attendees had to sleep on the bus.
“The long ride was well worth it, though, and it went pretty quickly on the way home,” Keaton Westerkamp said.
The group visited Disney World, saw Cirque de Soleil and Blue Man Group, went to the Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach, and participated in workshops with Disney musicians.
“Participating in the Disney Musicians workshop was the coolest thing,” Ali Girsch said. “The director was super personable and showed us what it’s like to work in a real recording studio.”
The most common favorite attraction was Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster in Hollywood Studios.
“Hollywood Studios was my favorite part,” Girsch said, “because a lot of us spent the day there in one big group which was fun for bonding.”
Alysa Goethe said, “If you’re in music, I think you should take this opportunity to bond. Plus, it was a great first Disney experience.”
