The Decibelles are Bettendorf’s very first prep show choir. The all female group includes singers and dancers from all grade levels.
"The biggest benefit of adding a prep group is giving more people the opportunity to participate and improving the music department and show choir as a whole,” coach Andrea Cooper said.
Choreography camp kicked off the year in August. The group spent three days learning the dances for the upcoming season and learning the songs.
“My favorite part was meeting all the girls and learning how to dance because that was challenging,” Stevi Mulvehill said.
"The choreography is harder now than it was in middle school,” freshman Abigail Saathoff said.
The Decibelles serve as a junior varsity group to the varsity group, Surround Sound.
“Prep group is helpful because it is showing you what Surround Sound will be like and training you for that,” Katie Lent said.
The first performance for the Decibelles will be the show choir Winter Showcase on Dec. 5.
