With the school year starting, student council has already been busy planning for homecoming events. All Iowa schools started school after Aug. 22 which gives student council less time to get things ready.
Homecoming week is considered to be one of the most exciting weeks by students because of all the events that go on. Mary Kainec is the chair of the spirit and elections committee and they’ve already voted on spirit days and a theme.
“The homecoming theme this year is greek, and we’ve also decided on our spirit days as well,” Kainec said. “Every year we have class color day and spirit day on Friday, but we will also have USA day, greek day and dynamic duo day.”
The dance committee is already hard at work to make sure the dance is the best it can be. Owen Weber is the chair of that committee.
“I’m the big dog, I’m in charge of everything that goes into planning the dance that happens Saturday night of homecoming week,” Weber said.
Homecoming week will begin Sept. 28 and the dance will be Saturday, Oct. 3.
“You can see a lot of gold, vines, togas and extravagant decorations at the dance,” Weber said.
Until homecoming week, student council is busy every day making sure the week is the best it can be.
